Gustavo Arruda Bezerra
Associate Director, Structural Biology Bicycle Therapeutics
Gustavo Arruda Bezerra is a structural biochemist at Bicycle Therapeutics, working at the intersection of structural biology, drug discovery and the rational design of bicyclic peptide therapeutics. His work focuses on using structural and biophysical approaches to understand molecular interactions, target engagement and guide the optimisation of Bicycle molecules. Gustavo has extensive experience in structure-guided drug design and has contributed to research exploring how high-resolution structural insights can accelerate the identification and optimisation of novel therapeutic candidates, with publications spanning structural biology, protein–ligand interactions and constrained peptide therapeutics.
Seminars
- Implement AlphaFold3, Boltz2, Chai, and Atheris for protein-ligand complex prediction, understanding when predictions are reliable versus when experimental validation is essential and navigating the landscape of available models
- Learn how to integrate predictions from evolutionary models, atomic foundational models, and FEP-based approaches, selecting the right tool for your specific application and avoiding naive implementation that wastes resources
- Understand the current limitations of AI-designed molecules and realistic timelines to first AI-derived drugs, managing leadership expectations while capitalising on genuine opportunities and addressing the critical data gap
